Photos From The Celebrating African American Authors Event!

I had the great pleasure of attending the Celebrating African American Authors (CAAA) 2007 event in Oklahoma City, OK. It was held by the Oklahoma City Urban League of Young Professionals, who's president is none other than Monique Bruner (aka Delta Reviewer), voted 2005 Marguerite Reviewer of the Year!

 There was an amazing author get-together at the Knowledge Center Books and More located at 3621 N. Kelley Ave. prior to the event on Friday night. This is a very quaint, impeccably decorated (using an African theme, with authentic African art) book store owned by an awesome man who makes journey's to Africa many times a year. We had a very interesting conversation, and I plan on going with him on one of his trips very soon! The get together was nice, with all of the particpating authors sharing experiences and knowledge. We were excited about the event!

Once we arrived at the Oklahoma State Capitol, I was amazed at the organization and effort that was evidenced by the well-put together set up. Monique Bruner definitely out did herself! There were lunch trays available to the authors free of charge, free water was provided, and each author got a chance to go to the podium and read from their books. There were give aways to any reader who attended the event and got all of the authors to sign their autograph poster. It was a wonderful time, and I enjoyed myself immensely. God willing, I will definitely be attending the event next year if Monique and the Urban League will have me!

Special thanks to Mr. Corey Woodley and Ms. Nichol Hill for providing a wonderful party which I attended Saturday night. The hospitality and friendliness that everyone demonstrated in Oklahoma was amazing.
